What an opportunity! The Sundowner
is one of Kona's most storied sport fishers with national recognition due to the many television programs aired on ESPN and the Outdoor Channel. She is in great mechanical condition due to the re-powering and extensive re-fitting completed in March '07. During this re-fit, the main engines were replaced, the engine compartment painted, all 12 volt wiring replaced with new harnesses including engine instrumentation/alarm harnesses, toilet and holding tank plumbing replaced, hydraulic steering system completely renovated including new stainless steel tie-bar, dripless packing systems were installed on the rudder shafts, new rudder posts were installed and new fiberglass rudder boxes constructed. All systems were newly bonded! The custom fabrication of a 6' x 2' fully insulated fish box running athwartships was incorporated into the forward cockpit sole with a new double lid hatch system, new ship's batteries were installed in the engine space in spark-proof boxes, along with new selector switches and circuit breakers. The lower cabin was remodeled to allow for more storage space and it too was thoroughly painted. The flybridge had all new bilge pump switches mounted in the console with warning lights and alarms. Two new high water bilge alarms were installed in the engine space and forward cabin bilge areas. The exterior was repainted complete.
PROPULSION
Twin Cummins 6BTA 315 HP each, installed new in March '07 and less than 1300 hours, drive ZF transmissions with 1 ¾" shafts with 21" x 22" three
blade propellers. She carries 200 gallons of useable fuel in one fiberglass tank.
